Jonny Nicol: FOUNDER & CEO OF STRATAJET
An army man through and through, Jonny Nicol is adamant that preparation is the key to success. This is why his new vision to revolutionise the private jet industry has taken five years to develop.
A former military officer and pilot, Nicol left the British Armed Forces and became an entrepreneur. Having spent time as a computer scientist, his first two businesses – like Stratajet – used technology to disrupt typically traditional industries.
After selling the second business to Hewlett Packard’s EDS Defence, Nicol worked as a freelance commercial pilot, during which time he was struck by the archaic and inefficient nature of private aviation. Noting that around 40% of private aircraft are flown without passengers and the largely manually-run nature of the industry, he set out to solve the major problems hampering private aviation from becoming more widely accessible to the mainstream traveller.
Dubbed ‘the world’s most sophisticated price comparison site,’ Stratajet is the result. After five years’ of development, one of the longest R&D phases in start-up history, Stratajet’s cutting-edge technology makes it the world’s first real-time private jet booking platform.
Able to quickly search for and accurately calculate prices of private jet flights, Stratajet puts control firmly back into the hands of the flier by eliminating the waiting time of other online booking platforms. Through the reduction of the industry’s inefficiencies, Stratajet is able to cut costs for aircraft operators and improve margins, thus driving down prices and allowing more people to enjoy the benefits of flying privately.
